Steel Center offers an array of special educational services for students enrolled in its career and technical education (CTE) programs. Special education facilitators collaborate with sending schools and their CTE liaisons/administrators by participating in IEP meetings to ensure appropriate scheduling and accommodations. They also work with on-site CTE program instructors to ensure proper implementation of IEPs and accompanying SDIs. Students may have access to resource rooms for additional supports and CTE curriculum remediations. Quarterly progress reports are sent to parents/guardians and IEP case managers at the sending schools, which indicate current marking-period grades and specific target behaviors affecting student performance. The Special Education Department is committed to making sure that CTE students with exceptionalities learn in least restrictive settings and achieve to the highest possible levels.
