Steel Center is an innovative Career and Technical School owned and operated by eleven southern Allegheny County school districts and located just south of Pittsburgh in Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania. We are a student-focused public school that delivers high quality Career & Technical Education to approximately 860 students and are looking for caring, highly motivated, and results oriented professionals for the following positions:
Baking/Pastry Arts Teacher, full-time permanent: Seeking a Baking and Pastry Arts professional to instruct high school students. Requires a minimum of 4 years of experience in the Baking and Pastry Arts field. Candidates with relevant post-secondary education; current industry recognized credentials, and/or certifications such as ACF preferred; Excellent communication, technology, and social skills are a must. Experience working with high school-aged youth in any setting is a plus. Range of starting annual salary $48,256 to $54,747 (potentially higher if already a PA certified teacher) plus excellent benefits package. This position open and will be filled ASAP.
School Counselor (grades 10-12), full-time permanent: The successful candidate for this NEW position will join another School Counselor as a member of our student services team. They will provide counseling services for students, including personal, social, and career guidance. They will also work as part of the team on the process of student recruitment, selection, enrollment, placement, and scheduling. Additional responsibilities include coordinating the student assistance program process with member school districts. They are also responsible for assisting with the preparation of state testing and reports, relative to guidance and student services. Excellent communication, technology, and social skills are a must. PDE Certification in Secondary School Counseling 7-12 or School Counseling K-12 and a master’s degree required. Special Education certification and experience are preferred. Range of starting annual salary $49,851 (potentially higher based on background and experience) plus excellent benefits package.

Substitute CTE Teachers: Individuals from all career (vocational) areas are welcome to apply. Requirements include a high school diploma, with a preference for individuals with experience in any business/industry setting, teaching certification NOT required. The pay rate is $150 per day.
Substitute Office Assistants: Requirements include a high school diploma, will perform general office functions, answering phones, assisting visitors, and related office support tasks. The pay rate is $110 per day.
Substitute Instructional Aides: Requirements include a high school diploma, will supervise high school students and support the instructional activities of CTE teachers. The pay rate is $110 per day.
Substitute Custodians: Requirements include a high school diploma; will perform cleaning in general public school/commercial setting. Pay rate is $110 per day.
