Steel Center is an innovative Career and Technical School owned and operated by eleven southern Allegheny County school districts and located just south of Pittsburgh in Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania. We are a student-focused public school that delivers high quality Career & Technical Education to approximately 860 students and are looking for caring, highly motivated, and results-oriented professionals for the following positions:
Assistant Director/Principal, full-time permanent: Seeking a Career and Technical Educational Leader for this position. Responsibilities include: Supervising all components of the educational programs including Chapters 4 and 339 Regulations along with compliance with PDE Approved Programs of Study; Providing leadership for curriculum development, teacher induction, staff development and the teaching/learning process; Supervision of the CTE program teachers; Assists the Executive Director in the administration of policies and procedures that lead to students achieving their educational goals; Leadership for the school’s NOCTI and other assessment programs; Leadership for Occupational Advisory Committees; Leadership for Articulation Agreements with post-secondary educational partners; and other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director to adapt to the changing needs of the organization.
The position requires excellent communication skills, a high degree of sensitivity to the needs of students, teachers, parents, and partner school districts. This is a 12-month, Act 93 position and offers a competitive salary and benefit package. Candidates must have excellent organizational and communications skills, a TEAM orientation, the ability to lead groups, and a commitment to contribute to school leadership initiatives. Requires Pennsylvania K-12 Principal certification and Pennsylvania Career and Technical Administrative Director Certification (or eligibility for both) and a valid PA CTE Instructional II teaching certificate. Five (5) years’ experience teaching an approved CTE program of study and leadership experience in a CTE setting preferred. Criminal background clearances are required for all positions.

Construction Manager, full-time temporary position: Seeking a construction professional to oversee all aspects and phases of a $29 million dollar renovation project. Candidate must have a minimum of an Associate’s Degree and/or journeyman credentials within one of the major construction/building trades and have at least 10 years’ experience in related work. Previous construction management experience, or experience as a general contractor, construction foreman or superintendent, clerk of the works, or facilities manager is required. Effective verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills are a must. This position is full-time for the duration of the renovation project. Salary is negotiable and will be part of an employment agreement along with work schedule, evaluation and other conditions of employment and applicable laws, regulations and Steel Center policies.
