Dear Steel Center Families,

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year at Steel Center! Whether you are joining us for the first time or returning for another year, we are excited to welcome you and look forward to partnering with you throughout the year.

This year, our theme is Operation Level Up: A New Building Is Only the Beginning.

For years, Steel Center students and staff have been doing amazing things. Our students have developed industry skills, earned credentials, competed at high levels, represented their programs with pride, and moved on to successful careers, apprenticeships, colleges, and other opportunities. Our instructors have continued to provide the hands-on, real-world learning experiences that make Career and Technical Education so valuable.

Over the past several years, Steel Center has also undergone a major physical transformation. Our renovation is complete, our programs are learning in modernized spaces, and our students have access to facilities and equipment designed to prepare them for today’s workforce. We are extremely proud of our new building—but the building itself is not the finish line.

It is the beginning.

Our new building gives us an environment that better reflects the quality of the work that has been happening at Steel Center for years. Operation Level Up is about building on that strong foundation and challenging each of us to take the next step.

For our students, that means improving their skills, increasing their effort, earning industry credentials, taking advantage of opportunities, and preparing for what comes after high school. For our staff, it means continuing to improve instruction, strengthen programs, and provide students with experiences that prepare them for college, careers, apprenticeships, and the workforce.

A new building gives us an incredible place to learn. What we accomplish inside of it is what will define our success.

  Here are a few important updates as we begin the school year:

1. First Day of Steel Center Classes

Our first day of school is Monday, August 31, 2026. Please contact your high school for information regarding transportation and for guidance on attendance expectations if your high school begins after Steel Center.

2. Renovation Complete & Open House

We are excited to begin the school year with our renovation project complete. Students will have the opportunity to learn in newly renovated classrooms, labs, shops, and instructional spaces designed to support hands-on Career and Technical Education.

We also want our families and community to see the transformation for themselves. Please make plans to visit Steel Center during our Open House on Monday, November 2, 2026. This will be a great opportunity to visit your student’s program, meet our staff, and see firsthand the incredible learning opportunities available throughout Steel Center.

3. Student Code of Conduct

Please take time to review the Student/Family Handbook available on our website at www.steelcentertech.com. The handbook will be finalized by August 14 and outlines the expectations, procedures, and policies that help ensure a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment for everyone.

We encourage families to review this information together so students begin the year with a clear understanding of our expectations.

As we begin this school year, our challenge to every student is simple: Level Up.

Take the next step. Learn one more skill. Earn another certification. Improve your attendance. Ask more questions. Take greater pride in your work. Push yourself beyond where you were yesterday.

Our building has changed. Now it is our opportunity to raise the level of what happens inside it.
